Early on in this series, I had the idea of drawing a kind of space station or animal that also represents a living city. How exactly this idea came about is hard to describe, but it began with the thought that animal fur being drawn in black and white would likely not be too different from grass, from a purely visual perspective. In this picture the city is merged with a red-crowned crane.
