This piece resulted from an unfinished test image. Pictured here is a ghostly wind god, or rather a kind of Yokai, a Japanese demonic spirit. During the painting process, I also thought about how Japanese artists might represent a Western man within this context, with broad shoulders, long nose and fanciful colors? The title “Nishikaze” means western wind.
